§ How I Approached It

How I approached it

Stripped out the failed zipper first to check the surrounding material for wear before sewing anything new in. Sourced a matching heavy-duty zipper built for wet, gritty river use, then stitched it in on the walking foot machine to keep the seam strong and straight along the original track.

§ The Challenge

The challenge

Raft bag zippers take a beating from sand, water, and constant loading and unloading, so matching zipper weight and stitching the new one in cleanly along the original track was key to keeping the bag functional and watertight where it matters.
