Sun Shade — Buckle Reinforcement for Wind Stability

Customer's sun shade was flapping loose and not holding tight in windy conditions. Added a set of buckles around the perimeter so it can be cinched down tight and stay put no matter the wind.

§ How I Approached It

How I approached it

Checked where the shade was losing tension in the wind and mapped out buckle placement along those points. Sewed webbing and buckle hardware onto the edges using the walking foot machine so the attachment points could handle repeated tightening without pulling out.

§ The Challenge

The challenge

Getting the buckle spacing right so the shade pulls evenly tight without stressing any one point took some planning. The stitching also had to be strong enough to handle constant wind load without the webbing tearing loose over time.
